  1. Shawn Bitters: Burn Out

    July 2, 2020, All Day @ Museum Amphitheater and Phelps Grove Park

    An outdoor installation composed of 23 printed "stones" from Kansas City-based artist Shawn Bitters that, when decoded, reveal a narrative of the landscape. This installation, on the grounds of the Museum and Phelps Grove Park, is a collaboration between the Museum and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. On view through July 2020 as a long-term loan courtesy of the artist. To decode the work, please visit the artist's website or visit the Museum's front desk (during normal hours of operation) where printed copies of the key are available.

  2. Framed: The Art of the Picture Frame

    July 2, 2020, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Eldredge, Spratlen, and Armstrong Galleries

    The Springfield Art Museum’s permanent collection contains a wide variety of art frames, both historic and contemporary. This exhibit utilizes the collection to demonstrate frame styles and trends covering both hand-carved and mass-produced molded ornament frames, as well as to illustrate the important role of framing in conserving and preserving artwork. This exhibition was guest curated by Exhibitions Manager Cindy Quayle.

  3. Watercolor USA

    July 2, 2020, 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM @ Weisel and Kelly Galleries

    This is the 59th exhibition of "Watercolor USA," a national, annual juried exhibition recognizing the very best in contemporary American watermedia painting. This year's exhibition is selected by juror Misa Jeffereis, Assistant Curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Approximately $20,000 in cash awards possible Museum purchase awards are available; top awards are $3,000, $2,000, and $1,500 cash. Additional support for "Watercolor USA" is provided by the Watercolor USA Honor Society and the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates.
